Tebita Paramedic College: Pioneering Emergency Medical Training in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Tebita Paramedic College, the sister institution of Tebita Ambulance, has been at the forefront of training skilled Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs)since its inception in 2017. Offering a 20-month Diploma program, the college has successfully graduated three batches of EMTs, all of whom have secured employment with Tebita Ambulance or other emergency service providers across the country.
Expanding Opportunities Nationwide
Initially recruiting students exclusively from Addis Ababa, Tebita Paramedic College has now broadened its reach thanks to the support of the Ministry of Labour and Skills (MOLS) In the fourth batch, 50% of the seats were allocated to students from Oromia, Amhara, Tigray, and Southern Nations and Nationalities (SNNPR), marking a significant step toward nationwide inclusivity. The fifth batch will extend this opportunity to the remaining regions of Ethiopia, ensuring equitable access to life-saving medical training.
A Fully Funded Scholarship Program
Thanks to generous funding from a Norwegian NGO PfC supporting social enterprises, Tebita Ambulance covers tuition fees, while MOLS provides accommodation support. Additionally, National Alcohol and Enat Bank sponsor transportation and other student expenses, making this a 100% scholarship opportunity.
Welcoming the Fourth Batch
Last week, the Tebita Paramedic College and Tebita Ambulance family warmly welcomed the new cohort by organizing an orientation tour. Students visited the college campus, Tebita Ambulance’s main office, and the newly constructed Tebita building, gaining firsthand insight into their future roles as emergency medical professionals.
A Message of Appreciation
Currently I am in Europe, I extend my deepest congratulations to the entire Tebita family—leadership, staff, trainers, and partners—for their unwavering commitment to saving lives and empowering Ethiopian youth through world-class emergency medical training.
Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient Ethiopia—one EMT at a time.
